GDCs Ramnagar, Samba, Akhnoor script wins

JAMMU, Sept 22: Defeating their rivals convincingly in the opening matches, Government Degree College Ramnagar, GDC Samba and GDC Akhnoor entered the next round in the Inter-Collegiate Volleyball Championship, being organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, here.
Earlier, in the first match, GDC Ramnagar outplayed GDC Bishnah by (2-0) sets with (25-18, 25-14), while GDC Samba beat GDC Doda by (2-0) sets with (25-12, 25-11) and SPMR College of Commerce lost to GDC Akhnoor in a close contest with 1-2 sets, with set scores (25-20, 13-25, 9-15).
The matches were officiated by Roshan Sharma, Amit Sharma, Sangita Bhatt, Suman Lata, Priya Charak and Prabhleen Kour.
All the matches were conducted under the overall supervision of Prof Dhian Singh Bhau, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.
All the PTIs and Team Incharge of the concerned Colleges were present at the venue. The tournament is being organized by Vikas Karlopia, volleyball coach, University of Jammu.
Meanwhile, Inter Collegiate Basketball (W) Championship 2014-15 also commenced today at MA Stadium, Jammu, in which 7 teams of different Colleges participated.
