Army organises Volleyball tourney

POONCH, Mar 31: The Indian Army inaugurated a Volleyball Tournament at Draba, District Poonch, under Operation Sadbhavana, aimed at promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and healthy competition among local youth. The event, held at TATA Volleyball Ground, Darogian, is being conducted in memory of Sub (Late) Ajay Singh, SM, from March 31 to April 2, 2026.
The tournament was inaugurated by Colonel Rohit Bharat, Commanding Officer, 61 Rashtriya Rifles, in the presence of local representatives, prominent citizens and enthusiastic spectators. Ex-Sarpanch Bufliaz, Tahira Tabasum, praised the initiative and thanked the Army for engaging youth in constructive activities.
Colonel Bharat highlighted the role of sports in shaping discipline, leadership, and unity among young people, stressing the Army’s commitment to fostering community engagement. Multiple teams participated, providing a platform for youth to showcase their talent and sporting skills.
The initiative has strengthened ties between the Indian Army and local communities, promoting unity, fitness, and positive avenues for youth development in District Poonch.
