SHIMLA, Mar 24: Bhupender Gupta, Chairman & Managing Director of SJVN, extended best wishes to all participating teams of the 25th Inter-CPSU Kabaddi Tournament, which commenced today at Rampur Hydro Power Station. He emphasised the importance of sports in fostering teamwork and organisational excellence, key elements in today’s work culture.
Ajay Kumar Sharma, Director (Personnel), encouraged employees to actively participate in sports, stating that a healthy workforce is essential for sustained performance and productivity. Parthajit De, Director (Finance), highlighted that such events promote physical fitness, team spirit and mental well-being, contributing positively to professional efficiency.
The tournament was inaugurated by Head of Project, Rampur HPS, Vikas Marwah, who hoisted the PSCB flag and declared the event open in the presence of Rajeev Kapoor and senior officials from Rampur HPS, NJHPS and LHEP-1. The event is being conducted under the aegis of the Power Sports Control Board.
Teams from MoP, NHPC, PowerGrid, CEA, REC, THDC, BBMB and host SJVN are participating. The inauguration featured Ganesh Vandana, Pahari Nati and a march-past, while local Mahila Mandals showcased traditional products.
On the first day of the tournament, a total of four league matches were played. The first match was played between SJVN and CEA in which SJVN triumphed.
The second match was held between NHPC and REC in which NHPC emerged victorious. The third match was played between PGCIL and THDC in which PGCIL registered a win. The fourth match was held between BBMB and MoP in which BBMB was the winner. The tournament will conclude on March 26, 2026.
