UDHAMPUR, Dec 18: The District Udhampur Boys and Girls Athletic Meet, organised by District Udhampur Athletic Association under the aegis of J&K Amateur Athletic Association and J&K Sports Council, commenced at Subash Stadium, here today. Athletes from across the district, representing various schools, participated with enthusiasm, displaying energy, discipline and exemplary sporting spirit.
Sunil Sharma, President of the District Athletic Association and a national-level sportsperson, welcomed the participants and formally declared the meet open, motivating the youth to excel in sports. The opening ceremony saw a large gathering of sports lovers, citizens and athletes, creating a lively and inspiring atmosphere.
The competitions witnessed outstanding performances across multiple events. In U-14 Boys Shot Put, Taanush Anthali topped the podium, followed by Prabal Saini and Tanish Verma. Arya claimed first place in U-14 Girls Shot Put, with Vanshika Sharma second and Ojasvi third. Sudan and Kirti won the Open Long Jump events for boys and girls, respectively, while Akshar excelled in both U-18 Boys High Jump and Long Jump. Winners in other events included Saatvi Sharma, Sunakshi Thakur, Abinash, and Aarya.
Selected athletes from this meet will represent the district at the UT Athletic Championship at MA Stadium, Jammu, from December 20–21, 2025. Trophies and certificates will be awarded to winners and runners-up.
