JAMMU, Dec 11: Army Public School Akhnoor celebrated its Annual Sports Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. The event was graced by Major General Harbinder Singh Brar, Patron, APS Akhnoor and Rupali Brar, Chairperson, Family Welfare Organisation, Cross Sword Division, whose presence inspired the young athletes.
The programme commenced with a spirited torch relay, followed by a majestic march past by NCC cadets and house contingents, displaying discipline, coordination and vibrant house spirit. Cultural and fitness performances added creativity and energy, captivating the audience.
Students showcased remarkable stamina and agility in track and field events, while friendly races involving teachers, parents and staff highlighted community participation. A key highlight was the Yatna Siddhi Puraskar – Most Progressive Student Award, instituted by Brig Ashish Rikhiye and Rajni Rikhiye, presented to Uttam Singh and Kanwar Vishal Singh for academic excellence and improvement. Each awardee received Rs 10,000 and a certificate of appreciation for their outstanding academic progress.
Principal Geeta Sharma presented the annual report, celebrating achievements in academics, sports and co-curricular activities. The chief guest praised the collective efforts, encouraging students to strive for higher excellence. The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks, marking a memorable celebration of sportsmanship and unity.
