KATRA, Dec 5: The 2nd Federation Cup Lacrosse Championship 2025 commenced at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Sports Complex, here today with MLA Katra Baldev Raj Sharma inaugurating the event. A total of 16 teams from across the country are participating in the prestigious competition.
The ceremony opened with a welcome address by Farooq Ahmad Salroo, CEO of the J&K Lacrosse Association, followed by the chief guest’s encouraging remarks. In his address, MLA Katra expressed delight over the growing popularity of lacrosse in India and extended best wishes to all teams, assuring full support to the organisers.
Participating States include Gujarat, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, Telangana, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Punjab, Delhi and host J&K, with around 250 players competing.
Organised by the J&K Lacrosse Association under the aegis of the Lacrosse Association of India, the championship will run from December 5 to 7, 2025. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including SHO Katra Ranjeet Singh Rao, CEO Lacrosse Association of India Towseef Ahmad Lari and officials from various state associations. The proceedings were conducted by Dr. Riyaz Veeri.
