BHADERWAH, Oct 11: The much-awaited two-day International Mega Dangal organised by Youth Action Committee (YAC) in collaboration with Indian Army, Bhaderwah Development Authority (BDA), J&K Police and District Administration Doda, started here today at Government Boys Higher Secondary School ground.
The event was inaugurated by MP (Rajya Sabha), Ghulam Ali Khatana who was chief guest on the occasion. He was accompanied by MLA Bhaderwah Daleep Singh Parihar and District Development Council (DDC) Chairman, Dhananter Singh Kotwal as guests of honour. The dignitaries formally declared the event open by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
Participants from Nepal and several Indian states including Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and J&K showcased their wrestling prowess in the Dangal.
The event also featured female wrestling competitions for the first time in Bhaderwah.
Talking to reporters, Naseer Mehboob, Chairman of the Youth Action Committee, said that the primary motive behind organizing this event was to pay tributes to the martyred soldiers of the country who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
MLA Daleep Singh Parihar announced a donation of Rs. 1 lakh to support the ongoing Dangal.
The two-day mega event will conclude on Sunday with final bouts and prize distribution ceremony.
