REASI, Sept 21: In a vibrant display of tradition and community spirit, Panchayat Dangakote hosted a grand one-day cultural mela along with a mega dangal today at Mohali Talab.
The event, organized under the chairmanship of DDC Chairman Saraf Singh Naag, drew a massive crowd of over 6,000 people from Dangakote and 10 neighboring panchayats, highlighting the region’s rich Dogri culture while promoting the theme of “Nasha Mukt Bharat.”
BDO Bhamag Vinod Verma, who served as Mela Officer, along with Bhopinder Singh Jamwal, Cultural Officer, and the J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages, curated a lively lineup of folk skits, stage shows, Kud dance performances, and Punjabi and Dogri songs, all aimed at raising awareness about drug-free living. Students from local schools also actively participated, bringing energy and enthusiasm to the event.
The mega dangal featured 80 thrilling bouts, with Madan Singh of Reasi emerging victorious, claiming a cash prize of Rs 31,000 after defeating Happy from Punjab.
Addressing the attendees, Saraf Singh Naag emphasized the importance of preserving Dogri heritage while using such platforms to promote social awareness.
