Sudeva Delhi FC lifts Climate Cup 2025 in Leh

LEH, Sept 7: Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh Kavinder Gupta today reiterated the UT Administration’s strong commitment to youth empowerment and climate action, while speaking at the grand finale of the Climate Cup Football Tournament 2025, held at the Leh Football Stadium. The event was also graced by First Lady Bindu Gupta.
Organised by the Department of Youth Services & Sports, UT Ladakh and Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh, in collaboration with the Ladakh Football Association and POWERGRID, the tournament reflected Ladakh’s vision of integrating sporting excellence with environmental consciousness.
The thrilling final saw Sudeva Delhi FC edge past Rajasthan FC in a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw in regulation time. Legend, the goalkeeper from Sudeva Delhi FC, was named Best Goalkeeper, while Bharanyu Bansal of 1 Ladakh FC claimed the Top Scorer award with six goals. Team ITBP received the Best Fair Play award.
In his address, the Lt Governor lauded the efforts of the organisers, calling the Climate Cup a symbol of “youth power, unity, and Ladakh’s ecological responsibility.” He highlighted the importance of youth participation in nation-building while maintaining an ecological balance, and emphasized sports as a medium for instilling discipline, teamwork, and environmental responsibility.
Underscoring Ladakh’s fragile ecosystem, Gupta called upon the youth to adopt sustainable practices and protect the Himalayas for future generations. He further congratulated all participating teams and announced continued support from the UT Administration for developing sports infrastructure in the region.
Sudeva Delhi FC, the winners, were awarded the wooden-made Climate Cup and a cheque of Rs 2.5 lakh, while Rajasthan FC, the runners-up, received a trophy and Rs 1.5 lakh. Present on the occasion were Tsering Angchuk, Deputy Chairman, LAHDC Leh; Executive Councillors Ghulam Mehdi and Stanzin Chosphel; DGP Ladakh Dr S.D. Singh Jamwal; Administrative Secretary YSS Bhanu Prabha; Joint Director YSS Tahir Hussain, along with Councillors, political and religious heads, and a large number of spectators.
The tournament featured nine teams, including Sudeva FC Delhi, Rajasthan FC, FIFA AIFF Odisha and Team Tibet.
