JAMMU, June 26: In a landmark move, Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) has shortlisted 33 candidates from across J&K and Ladakh for its Umpires clinics to be held under the expert supervision of ICC Panel Umpire Anil Chaudhary and BCCI Umpire Vikas Dalal. The clinics will be conducted separately in Jammu and Srinagar after a 16-year gap since the last such event in 2008-09.
The Jammu clinic, featuring 17 shortlisted candidates, will be held at JKCA Hostel Ground from June 28 to July 2, concluding with a qualifying exam. The Srinagar clinic will host 16 candidates from July 4 to July 8.
Anil Chaudhary, the only Indian umpire to officiate the Asia Cup Final (2022) and with over 226 IPL matches, will lead the sessions. Vikas Dalal, BCCI National Panel Umpire and All India Rank 1 in the 2022 Umpires Exam, brings experience from over 86 BCCI matches. Sapna Jamwal and Umar Ahmed Wani will coordinate the clinics in Jammu and Srinagar, respectively.
Brig Anil Gupta, Member Administration, said the initiative will strengthen grassroots cricket officiating, while Mithun Manhas, Member Cricket Operations, highlighted it as a platform for umpiring excellence.
