SRINAGAR, July 8: Government Higher Secondary School Chanpora and Government Girls Higher Secondary School Kothibagh were among the four winners in the Women’s Football Tournament 2014, being organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA) at Government Women College, MA Road, here.
Earlier, in the first match, HSS Chanpora defeated New Convent Higher Secondary School, Goajbagh by two goals to nil (2-0) in an easy contest. Both the goals were scored by Intika of HSS Chanpora, while in another match, GHSS Kothibagh trounced New Convent HSS Barzulla by (2-0), with Khushboo and Afreen being the goal scorers.
In the third match of the day, GHSS Kothibagh drubbed GHSS Chanpora by two goals to one (2-1) in a close contest. Intika and Dua pelted goals for HSS Kothibagh, while Saima netted goal for HS Chanpora.
In the last match of the day, Women College Srinagar thrashed Green Valley Educational Institute Elahibagh by seven goals to nil (7-0) in a one-sided contest. Bushra was the star performer for Women’s College netting 4 goals, while Shahnaz scored 2 goals and Rehan pelted one.
With this victory, Women’s College Srinagar has qualified for the finals of the Tournament.
Now Women’s College will take on the winner of the semifinal match between Mallinson Girls School and HSS Kothibagh at the same venue on July 11, 2014.
