JAMMU, May 5: The fencing contingent from Jammu & Kashmir has been finalized for the 7th Khelo India Youth Games 2025, following a detailed screening process conducted today by the J&K Sports Council at the Indoor Fencing Hall, M A Stadium, Jammu.
The selection marks a significant step in the UT’s preparation to make a strong impact at the national level, as the young team gears up to compete in Rajgir (Bihar), from May 11 to 15.
The screening process was overseen by the Sports Council’s Screening Committee comprising key officials including Divisional Sports Officer (J) Balwinder Singh, JKSC Member Rajiv Sharma, Indoor Stadium Manager Suraj Bhan Singh and Arjuna Awardee Krupali Singh.
A physiotherapist and official photographer from the Council were also present. Lending technical depth to the event were International Referee Rashid Ahmed Chowdhary and National Medalist Maninder Pal Singh.
The final team, a balanced blend of skill and potential, consists of 12 athletes-eight boys and four girls. The boys’ squad includes Dhananjay Pandit, Amish Sharma, Manik Sharma, Vansh Raina, Saaid ur Rehman, Ranvir Jamwal, Rinku Manhas, and Sayam Sharma. The girls’ side features Subhanaya Sharma, Bhavya Jamwal, Eknoor Kour, and Aahana Gupta.
Supporting the athletes will be an experienced coaching team led by Senior Fencing Coach Rachna Jamwal, along with Fencing Instructor Shotu Lal Sharma and Coach Vir Sangram Singh.
