JKP’s wrestler wins 21st Sool Pamote Dangal title

REASI, Jan 17: Wrestler Ishaq Ahmed (Lallu) of J&K Police clinched the prestigious 21st annual Sool-Pamote Dangal title 2025 by defeating Abhinayak of Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, in an intense neck-to-neck contest at Pamote Nalla, district Reasi. Ishaq was awarded a cash prize of Rs 75,000 and a traditional Gurj (Gadda) for his victory, while runner-up Abhinayak received Rs 50,000.
In another exciting first-malli bout, Ram Dhan from Rohtak, Haryana, triumphed over Benia Min of J&K Police. Ram Dhan received a cash prize of Rs 75,000 and Benia Min was awarded Rs 50,000. The event witnessed remarkable participation from top wrestlers from across North India, showcasing their skills in 76 intense bouts.
The prestigious event was graced by former J&K Minister Jugal Kishore Sharma, who distributed a total of Rs 5,50,000 as cash prizes. Jugal Kishore Sharma encouraged the wrestlers and emphasized the importance of physical activities like wrestling in promoting a healthy lifestyle, particularly among the youth, to deter them from engaging in harmful habits such as drug use.
The Dangal event was presided over by Shiv Kumar Sharma, former Joint Secretary of the J&K State Sports Council and President of the J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association. The function was attended by several dignitaries, including Rajinder Mengi (DDC member, Panthal), Deepak Khajuria (Assistant Commandant, CRPF), social activist Sohan Singh Thakur (Sonu), and former Sarpanch Rajinder Kumar Thappa.
The event was successfully organized by the Sool-Pamote Dangal Committee, with Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri) and Anil Kumar overseeing proceedings. The organizing team included Raj Kumar Sharma (Baboo), Rattan Lal Sharma, Joginder Lal, Vijay Kumar, Naseeb Singh and others who ensured the smooth conduct of the event.
