ANANTNAG, Nov 18: Government Model Higher Secondary School (Boys) Bijbehara, in collaboration with Humanity Welfare Organisation Helpline NGO, organized a thrilling T20 cricket match for visually impaired players, here today. The game, held between SB Titans and Rising Stars, showcased remarkable skill and determination.
SB Titans, led by Showkat Ahmad Lone, won the toss and chose to bat, scoring an impressive 183 runs in 20 overs. Mohammad Shafi Wani from Shopian stole the spotlight, remaining unbeaten with a stellar 120 runs, smashing boundaries and sixes. Ghulam Mohideen took two wickets for Rising Stars.
In reply, Abid Nayak’s Rising Stars put up a spirited chase, finishing with 174 runs. Shafi Wani’s all-round brilliance earned him the Man of the Match title.
Principal Nasreena Akhter lauded the event, emphasizing its role in showcasing the abilities of individuals with disabilities and raising awareness among students. Javed Ahmad Tak, founder of Humanity Welfare Organisation Helpline highlighted the importance of such matches in encouraging physical activity among visually impaired individuals to prevent health issues.
The event hosted 24 players from across Kashmir and demonstrated that sports transcend physical limitations, inspiring all present. The organizers plan to host similar matches regularly.
