JAMMU, Apr 13: Jammu District Chess Association conducted S C Memorial Under-17 Open Jammu Division Selection Chess Tournament at Hotel Nek Below Gummat, here today.
Atul Kumar Gupta, president All J&K Chess Association, Baldev Raj, vice president and Taranvir Singh Gujral, coordinator were present at Prize Distribution Function, while Ankush Kumar was the organizing secretary of this event.
Among very strong field of rated players, unrated Soham Kamotra won the event by winning all his matches and cash prize of Rs.2000, while Meenal got a cash prize of Rs 1000. Third, fourth and fifth prizes were Rs 800, 700 and 500 respectively.
The topper from this event and the topper from Kashmir division will represent J&K State in Under-17 Nationals to be held in Bihar.
Top five positions were bagged by Soham Kamotra, Meenal Gupta, Vikhyaat Mehta, Vilakshan Mehta and Angad Singh.
