Bangalore, Jan 8: Superb centuries by dashing opener Rabin Uthappa (100) and K K Nair (100) enabled Karnataka to pile up 297 for five wickets in the first innings of Ranji Quarter Finals against Uttar Pradesh played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium here today.
C M Gautam (89) was at the crease when at the end of day one.
The visitors who called the hosts to bat first, succeeded in capturing three wickets with score reading 15, however, stopped the sledge by punnishing the bowlers in his stay of 230 minutes facing 160 balls.
