Prof. Yousuf Memorial Cricket Tourney

SRINAGAR, Mar 27: Post Graduates Kashmir University defeated Government Degree College Anantnag by 1 wicket and sailed into the finals of the ongoing 14th edition of Prof. Yousuf Memorial Cricket Tournament at Islamia College Playfield, here today.
The match was inaugurated by Prof. Seema Bashir- Head Department of Commerce who welcomed and honoured both the teams for their participation in reaching the semi-final stage of this tourney. The toss was won by Government Degree College Anantnag and elected to bat first and scored 155 runs with the loss of 6 wickets in allotted 20 overs. Sartaj scored 62 runs in 41 deliveries, while for postgraduates of Kashmir University team, Sarwar and Sharief took 2 wickets each.
In reply, Postgraduates of Kashmir University successfully chased the target runs in 19.5 overs. Sarwar scored 27 in 15 deliveries, while Danish and Ovais scored 22 runs each in 19 and 9 deliveries respectively.
From the bowling side (GDC Anantnag), Farhat took 5 wickets. The man of the match was awarded to Ovais for his good batting performance, scoring 22 runs in 7 deliveries in this match.
The final match of this tournament will be played on 4th of April (Tuesday) between Government Degree College Frisal Kulgam and Post Graduates of Kashmir University teams.
The tournament is being organized by the Department of Physical Education, Islamia College of Science and Commerce Srinagar, in the memory of Ex-Principal of the College Prof Mohammad Yousuf.
