SRINAGAR, Aug 13: Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services & Sports, Taj Mohi-ud-Din today visited Bakshi Stadium to inspect the renovation works being carried out there. He visited various pavilions and visitors galleries and inspected the upgraded seating equipment installed there.
The Minister also visited the Sher-i-Kashmir Indoor Stadium and reviewed the ongoing renovation works there. He directed creating more space at the stadium so that more and more indoor games would be played at a time at the stadium.
Mr Taj directed utilization of space for landscaping and creating local aesthetic ambience within the sporting area of the stadium. He also directed creating more facilities for players at the stadium.
Later, in an informal chat with mediapersons, the Minister said the State Government has embarked on an ambitious programme of strengthening sports infrastructure in the State and in this regard a beginning has been made with the foundation laying of Rs. 18 crore sports complex at Baramulla last month. He said already the Government has decided to construct sports complex at every block and sports field in every panchayat halqa.
Mr. Taj said Astroturf is being laid at TRC grounds and Azadgunj, Baramulla where matches of national standard would be played.
