JAMMU, July 8: Angel Club ‘A’ got better of Angel Club ‘B’ in an exciting contest by 1 wicket in the Tri-Series match at Government College for Women, Parade, here today.
Joint Director Youth Services and Sports, Madan Lal was the chief guest on the valedictory function who distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams, besides among 19 cricketers who have excelled at the higher levels. Shamboo Nath Sharma, vice chairman JKCA Jammu wing was the guest of honour.
Earlier, batting first, Angel ‘B’ bundled out for a paltry total of 43 runs in 11-4 overs. Nadia played a brilliant innings of 33 runs, studded with 5 boundaries, while none of the other batswomen managed to cross double figure mark. Shallu and Aina bagged 3 wickets each for Angel ‘A’, while Sapna took 2 and Heena claimed one.
In reply, Angel ‘A’ chased the target by losing 9 wickets to win the match by 1 wicket. Sunita was top scorer with 13 runs, while Priya and Bhavika chipped in with unbeaten 10 and 8 runs respectively. Nadia took 3 wickets, while Isha and Meenu bagged 2 wickets each for Angel ‘B’.
The match was organized by Angel Cricket Club, under the supervision of Anju Gupta, Sadiq Hussain Malik, Sanjay Pardhan and Anuradha Sharma.
Meanwhile, 19 cricketers were award by the chief guest for their outstanding achievement, which included Neeru Manhas, Sapna Jamwal, Jyotsna Jamwal, Shallu Kaila, Pooja Sharma, Aina Sohal, Simmi, Meenu, Samdeep, Jaspreet Kour, Isha, Sunita, Asha, Abha, Nadia, Bhavika, Priya, Nurjahan and Neha.
