JAMMU, July 27: NSS Unit of Government College of Education (GCoE) Jammu organized an online Inter-College Slogan Writing Competition on World’s Nature Conservation Day.
The theme for the program was, “Healthy Environment : A Key to Healthy and Sustainable Society” to create an awareness among the masses to show mother nature some love and to save the planet Earth. The program was ably conducted by NSS Program Officer Dr Shubhra Jamwal along with committee members Prof Shapia Shameem and Prof Seema kumari .
Prof (Dr) Kulvinder Kour, (Principal GCoE) applauded the efforts of the NSS unit and also stressed upon the urgent need of conserving the natural heritage of the country and world at large for attaining the sustainability in future. About 80 students from various colleges of UT of Jammu and Kashmir participated.
Prof (Dr) Raj Kumar Rampal (Head EVS Dept. Jammu University), Prof Satish Sharma (Head Hindi Dept GCoE) and Dr Suman Charak Jamwal (Head, Dept. of English GCW Gandhi Nagar) were the judges of the event.
First prize was bagged by Vaishali Jamwal (KC College of Education) , Neha Rani (GCoE) and Priya Chivlary Singh(GCoE) stood second while Rupali Chib( Jammu University) clinched third position.
Meanwhile, Department of Botany, Government Degree College Nowshera organized an Inter-Collegiate Poster Making Competition on the eve of ‘World Nature Conservation Day.”
The theme of the event was “Nature Conservation during the COVID-19 Pandemic”. The event was organized by Pooja Devi, Assistant Professor Botany under the supervision College Principal, Dr Surinder Kumar.
About 22 students from various institutions across the UT of J&K participated. Rubal Jasrotia of GDC Kathua and Manik Kumar of GCET Jammu shared first position while the second position was shared by Sakshi Sharma from Central University of Jammu and Vashali Jamwal of KC College of Education Jammu and third position was also shared by Tania Choudhary of NNP Higher Secondary Nowshera and Manik of University of Jammu.
