SAMBA, Feb 23: The 9th Samba District Badminton Championships 2024, organized by the Samba District Badminton Association under the aegis of the Badminton Association of J&K and in collaboration with J&K Sports Council, concluded today at Indoor Stadium, Samba.
The finals and prize distribution ceremony witnessed a large turnout of players and distinguished guests. Keshav Dutt Sharma, Chairman of DDC Samba, was the chief guest and presented prizes to the winners and runners-up. Jai Ram Sharma, President of the Samba District Badminton Association, presided over the function, while Dr. O.D. Sharma, Chairman of the Badminton Association of J&K, was the guest of honour.
Prominent attendees included Dalvir Mehta, Manager of Indoor Stadium Samba, along with officials from the Samba District Badminton Association such as Sandeep Sambyal, Ram Krishan, Raju Sharma, Naresh Singh and Ajatshatru Singh.
In the championships, Shivang Magotra claimed victory in the U-15 Boys Singles, while Vikrant Singh finished as the runner-up. In the U-19 Boys Singles, Raghav Magotra emerged as the winner, with Shivansh Sharma securing the runner-up position. Pratiksha won the U-19 Girls Singles title, while Mehak Salathia was the runner-up. In Men’s Singles, Raghav Magotra took home the title, with Akshdeep finishing as the runner-up. Nirmal Singh and Akashdeep triumphed in the Men’s Doubles, while Sukhdev Singh and Daljit Singh won the Veteran Doubles, with Vishal Dev and Vikram Sambyal as runners-up.
