JAMMU, May 10: Outplaying their opponents convincingly in their respective contests, Dadra & Nagar Haveli Hockey Association, Mumbai Hockey Association, Hockey Madhya Pradesh and Hockey Uttarakhand advanced in the ongoing 5th Hockey India Sub Junior National Hockey Championship at KK Hakhu Astroturf Stadium, here today.
Earlier, in Pool A, Dadra & Nagar Haveli Hockey Association defeated Hockey Bhopal in a close contest by two goals to one (2-1). Nilesh Kathoute scored both the goals for Dadra & Nagar Haveli in 11th and 49th minutes, while Yasir Jafri netted the lone goal for Hockey Bhopal, while in another match of Pool A, Mumbai Hockey Association drubbed Assam Hockey by seven goals to three (7-3). For Mumbai HA, Shreyas Dhupe scored three goals in 47th, 54th and 59th minutes, while Ameen Rogay netted two goals in 6th and 9th minutes of the match, while Tikram Thakulla and Parneet Naik pelted a goal each in 29th and 30th minutes respectively. For Assam Hockey, Arjun Bhagat scored the goal in 23rd minute, while Manish Sahani netted back to back goals in 33rd and 39th minutes respectively.
In Pool B, Hockey MP trounced Kerala Hockey by six goals to two (6-2). Vijay Yadava and Rishabh Anand Kushwaha scored 2 goals each. Arun Pal and Kuwer Singh scored one goal each. For Kerala Hockey, Athulc and Amal Augustine scored goals in 51st and 63rd minutes respectively.
In another Pool B match, Uttarakhand defeated Rajasthan by five goals to three (5-3). Sumit Kumar was the star performer for Uttarakhand, who scored 4 goals in 18th, 23rd, 24th and 43rd minutes respectively, while for Hockey Rajasthan, Sahil Tiwari scored a brilliant goal in 38rd minute, while Himanshu Sharma netted two goals in 54th and 62nd minutes respectively.
In tomorrow’s fixture, Assam Hockey will take on Goans Hockey at 6 am, Hockey Himachal will face Hockey Bihar at 7:30 am, Hockey Gujarat will take on Hockey Patiala at 9 am, Hockey Rajasthan will lock horns with Hockey Puducherry at 10.30 am and Vidarbha Hockey Association will meet Hockey J&K at 4.30 pm.
