4th Jr NZ Sport Climbing Championship on Dec 14-15

JAMMU, Nov 21: The 4th Junior North Zone Sport Climbing Championship for boys and girls which had been postponed earlier shall now be conducted by Mountaineering Association of J&K at Sprawling Buds School, Chinore here from December 14 to December 15, 2015.   According to a handout issued here, about 250 climbers from Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttrakhand besides the host J&K are expected to participate in the 2-day championship.
Since it is a Junior Zonal championship only those climbers, both boys and girls, born in 1999, 2000 and after are eligible to compete in the competitions which shall be conducted both in Lead and Speed climbing. The competitions will be conducted strictly as per IFSC rules and only fresh international standard climbing equipment shall be used.
The championship carries a total prize money of Rs.30000, which will be distributed equally between boys and girls. Almost all the prominent North Zone climbers including national medalists are likely to participate in the competition and a keen tussle is on the cards in all the categories. The J&K challenge shall be spear headed by Mrityunjay Sharma, a national bronze medalist and the team with very talented climbers including Shivani Charak,  Aman Dogra, Shilpa and Nitya Sharma is likely to give a creditable performance.
Specialized equipment is to be arranged by Mountaineering Association of J&K, the Indian Mountaineering Foundation North Zone Committee shall provide adequate technical support and a few officials including the President of Jury, the Chief Route Setter, Judges and Belayers. The Chairman IMF North Zone Committee Sh. S. Bhattacharjee has also confirmed his availability during the competition.
The Championship is being organized by Mountaineering Association of J&K under the aegis of Indian Mountaineering Foundation North Zone Committee and sponsored by J&K State Sports Council.
