3rd Inter Church Cricket Championship gets underway

JAMMU, Feb 16: St John’s Church Bakshi Nagar registered convincing win over St Peter’s Catholic Church in the inaugural match of the 3rd Inter Church Cricket Championship which got underway at Alexander School Ground here today.
The championship is being organized by Christian Fellowship Trust Jammu under the supervision of Fr. Kuriakose President Christian Fellowship Trust Jammu and Rajesh Gill President Christian Sports Organization Jammu, while the organising committee included Edwin Khokher, William Mattoo, Johnson Gill, Asif Gill, David Mattoo, Griffan Gill, Sunny Gill, Amit, Asif Paul Gill and Mithu.
Johny William Retired IGP was the chief guest on the inauguration function whereas Satish Kumar SDPO North Jammu ,Fr. Kuriakose President Christian Fellowship Trust Jammu and Easther William Principal Alexander School Jammu were the guests of honour.
The chief guest while speaking on the occasion praised the organisers for holding the event in a befitting manner, while Fr Kuriakose and Satish Kumar SDPO also spoke on the occasion.
In the opening match St. John’s Church defeated St. Peter’s Catholic Church by 5 wickets.
Batting first, St Peter’s Catholic Church scored 97 runs in the allotted 12 overs by losing 8 wickets. Rohan Gill, Justin and Gavin contributed 18, 17 and 15 runs to the total respectively. Rishu took 4 wickets while Heaven, Prince and Victor took claimed 1 wicket each.
In reply, St John’s Church chased the target in 11.2 overs by losing 5 wickets thus won the match by 5 wickets. Christopher scored 57 runs while Rishu scored 24 runs. Ambrose took 3 wickets while Rajesh and Gavin claimed 1 wicket each.
