SRINAGAR, Oct 23: The closing ceremony of 35-day long Wall Climbing Camp organised by Jammu and Kashmir Police in collaboration with Department of Tourism under Civic Action Programme (CAP) was held today at Tourist Reception Centre (TRC) Nowgam.
182 youth from South Kashmir districts of Anantnag, Pulwama, Shopian and Kulgam participated in this camp.
The organisers believed that since Jammu and Kashmir had enough potential of adventure sports and there is a need to harness the same and propagate them through face-book and other social media by making adventure sports clubs.
A cash prize of Rs. 20,000 was announced for Lal Public School Botakadal on the occasion.
Earlier in his welcome address IGP (Hqrs.) PHQ, Surinder Gupta said that the wall climbing camp started on 13th September and concluded on 17th October. Highlighting the aims of the camp he said that the J&K Police has initiated a number of sports and other programmes for the youth of the State. He said that such camps and sports teach us that greater goals can be achieved with discipline and team spirit.
In his vote of thanks address SSP, Abdul Rashid Bhat, Commandant JKAP 12th Bn. thanked the chief guest, other guests, parents of the youth, media for making the programme a success.
Earlier, the students of Lal Public School, Botakadal, Srinagar presented the show of the cultural heritage of Kashmir. The Central Cultural Team of J&K Police also enthralled the audience by presenting popular songs in different languages.
On this occasion ADGP Armed, AK Choudhary, Director Vigilance, S JM Gillani, IGP Traffic, Jagjit Kumar, IGP Railways, Mubarak Ahmad Ganaie, IGP (Hqrs.) PHQ, Surinder Gupta, IGP Armed Kashmir, S. Ahfadul Mujtaba, AIGs PHQ, Mubassir Latifi, Abdul Waheed Shah and number of commandants of the Armed/IR Battalions were present on this occasion.
Besides, distributing the prizes among the first 10 youth who excelled in the camp, track suits were provided to all the participants.
