JAMMU, Oct 22: Three days Handball Championship concluded at Shastri Nagar Playfield, here today.
Senior BJP Leader Yudhvir Sethi was chief guest at the final match. The tournament had been organised by the J&K Handball Association. S.M Bali president of the association was the guest of honour.
While appreciating efforts of the Association, Yudhvir said the State is rich in sports talent and sportsmen from the State have proven their mettle at different national and international championships. He said proper nurturing by the sports authorities goes a long way in promoting the talent at different levels.
The championship was organized by Ashwani Kumar Raina, general secretary J&K  Handball Association  in collaboration  with J&K State Sports Council.
Prominent among others who were present on the occasion were Rajinder Kumar, chairman Selection Committee J&K Handball Association, Rajesh Chandan, Dev Raj,Vinay Sharma and Nirmal Kour.
The final match in women’s section was played between Sandeep Pal Club and R.L Pissu Club in which Sandeep Pal Club defeated RL Pissu Club by 12-11. Main scorer for Sandeep Pal Club was Arushi who scored 4 goals and main scorer for RL Pissu Club was Megha who scored 6 goals.
In men’s section, the final match was played between R.L Pissu Club Jammu and Sandeep Pal Club in which R.L Pissu Club defeated Sandeep Pal Club by (24-19) goals.
