2nd Round of Monthly Series of NZ Sport Climbing C’ship on Sept 17

Jammu, Aug 27: The 2nd Round of Monthly Series of North Zone Sport Climbing Competition for Sub Junior Boys, Sub Junior Girls and women which has been allotted to J&K by Indian Mountaineering Foundation North Zone Committee, New Delhi, will be conducted by Mountaineering Association of J&K at Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Bantalab, Jammu on September 17, 2017.
About 150 climbers from Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttrakhand besides the host J&K are expected to participate in the competition.
It is pertinent to mentioned her that in order to adequately prepare North Zone climbers and thus facilitate their selection for the Asian Games to be held at Indonesia-2018 and Tokyo Olympics-2020, Indian Mountaineering Foundation North Zone Committee has started Monthly Series of North Zone Sport Climbing Competitions to be hosted by affiliated state units on rotational basis.
The first such competition in Bouldering was held at Indian Mountaineering Foundation New Delhi on August 20, 2017 for Men and Junior Boys categories only in which 2 state climbers Arun Deep Singh and Mrityunjay Sharma won a Gold and a Silver medal respectively.
Since the competitions at Jammu shall be held only in Sub Junior Boys, Sub Junior Girls and Women categories only those climbers born in 2004, 2005 and after (Sub Jr. Boys & Girls) and born in 2000, 1999 and earlier (Women category) are eligible to compete in the competitions which will be conducted only in Lead climbing. The competitions will be conducted strictly as per IFSC rules and only fresh international standard climbing equipment will be used.
The competitions carry total prize money of Rs.13, 500.
The Championship is being organized by Mountaineering Association of J&K under the aegis of Indian Mountaineering Foundation North Zone Committee and sponsored by J&K State Sports Council.
