JAMMU, Feb 19: J&K Sports Powerlifting Association, affiliated to Powerlifting Federation of India is organizing the 24th National Bench-Press Powerlifting Championship from February 20 to February 24 at MA Stadium, here.
This was informed by Rajan Jain, general secretary of the Association while addressing media persons at Gandhi Nagar, here today.
He claimed the championship will be the largest Bench-Press Championship in the history of Powerlifting, With Arround 1000 competitors in it.
“The Indian Powerlifting Federation under the direction of Arjuna Awardee, Subrata Dutta, has also termed the event a sporting extravaganza”, said Mr Jain.
He said, J&K Sports Powerlifting Association now becomes one of the world’s leader in power events.
Mr Rajan informed that Peter Thorne, president United States Powerlifting Federation and vice chairman IBSA, International Blind Sport’s Association will attend the event as guest of honor.
Mr Jain further said that the event is a monumental achievement for the J&K Sports Powerlifting Association and a step forward in flourishing this sport, adding that 30 State and affiliate units of the Association will be taking part in the Championship.
