JAMMU, Jan 6: 20-Punjab and Young Star Hockey Club Simbal Camp defeated their rivals convincingly to advance in the ongoing District Jammu Senior Hockey Tournament, being organized by Hockey J&K at KK Hakhu Astroturf Hockey Stadium, here.
In the first match, 20-Punjab defeated Dashmesh Club, Nanak Nagar by two goals to nil (2-0). For 20-Punjab, Sukhwinder Singh scored the first goal in 50th minute, while the second goal was scored by Charanjit Singh in the 52nd minute of the match.
In another match, Young Star Simbal Camp drubbed Zorawar Hockey Club, Satwari by two goals to one (2-1) in a close contest.
For Young Star Simbal Camp, Sumit Pal scored 2 back to back goals in 52nd and 55th minutes of the match, while for Zorawar Club, the goal was scored by Parvinder Singh in the 15th minute.
From Pool A, Khalsa Club Gole Gujral and 20- Punjab have qualified for the semifinals of the Tournament.
The matches were officiated by Charanjeet Singh, MR Senapati (BSF) and Jagjeet Singh, while the Tournament is being held under the supervision of GS Bakshi, general secretary of Hockey J&K.
In tomorrow’s fixture, Young Star Simbal Camp will take on Dashmesh Club, Nanak Nagar at 1.30 pm, while Guru Nanak Nagar Hockey Club will lock horns with BSF Kashmir at 2.30 pm.
