1st Open J&K Badminton tourney begins

JAMMU, July 5: The 1st Open J&K Badminton Tournament 2025, organized by RS Sports Academy, commenced at RS Sports Academy Indoor Stadium, Meshian, Darsopur, Miran Sahib, here today. The event, aimed at promoting young talent across Jammu & Kashmir, witnessed intense matches in the Under-13 Singles category.
In the Girls Under-13 Singles, Gulnaaz defeated Sragvi Pathania, while Shivika emerged victorious against Shranya. In the Boys Under-13 Singles, Raghav beat Devansh, Shivank got the better of Verdaan, and Kumarval defeated Akshom.
Dr. Narinder Singh Raina (MLA South) inaugurated the event as chief guest. Applauding RS Sports Academy’s efforts, he emphasized the importance of sports in character-building, stating that “sports teach both how to win and how to accept defeat with grace.”
SP Headquarters Irshad Ahmad Rather attended as guest of honour. He appreciated Rameshwar Singh Manhas, Managing Director of the academy, for organizing the four-day tournament and wished the young athletes success.
Several distinguished guests were also present, including Sat Pal Sharma, Daleep Kumar, Kishor Sharma, Rajesh Sharma, Om Parkash Khajuria, Balkaran Singh, Dheeraj Gupta, Dushant Sharma, Rajnish Rampal, Amarjeet, Dhalu Choudhary and Coach Arjun Sharma. The tournament will continue over the next three days with participation from multiple zones across the district.
