KATHUA, Mar 1: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kathua, O P Bhagat assured of improved infrastructural facilities for the Kathua boxers with an aim to help them excel at the J&K and National levels.
The DDC was speaking to the gathering of young boxers at the valedictory function of the Ist District Kathua Boxing Championship held at Sports Stadium, here today.
The chief guest was impressed with the skills of young boys, who gave impressive demonstration of their skills.
Guest of honour, SSP Kathua, Shailender Mishra also encouraged the boxers from the district and encouraged them to work hard to excel at the National level.
Earlier, general secretary of the J&K Amateur Boxing Association, Rajan Sharma welcomed the chief guest and other distinguished guests and presented a brief note of the activities of the Association in district Kathua.
In the meantime, in the Sub-junior category, the bout between Rishi Lalotra and Danish Sajjad remained best contest of the day. Rishi won the contest narrowly.
Two interesting demonstration fights took place between youth and mini boxers. In Youth category, Rizwan Sajjad and Sahil Lalotra contested while in mini group the fight took place between budding boxers, Rohit and Krishna.
The technical penal was led by Gautam Sharma and comprised Rajneesh and Pardeep Sharma.
