JAMMU, Mar 23: 19th Men and 5th Women State Wrestling Championship 2014 concluded at Indoor Hall in MA Stadium, here today.
Arround 100 wrestlers from various districts of J&K State including the wrestlers of J&K Police Central team participated in the Championship.
Raman Bhalla, Minister for Housing, Horticluture, Culture and Youth Service and Sports was chief guest on the occasion, who while speaking on the occasion, emphasised the role of the sports in the life of a person and assured full support from the State Government for the upliftment of the game in the State.
Navin Agarwal, Director General Youth Service and Sports was the guest of honour, who said that such events are launching pad for wrestlers to blossom at the national scene.
S M Sahai, ADGP Armed J&K, the guest of honour on the occasion lauded the efforts of J&K Wrestling Association in conducting the mega event.
The other dignitaries present on the occasion were Vijay Singh Sambyal, DIG IR Jammu and Vijay Kumar, Commandant IR-10th Battalion.
Earlier, Dushyant Sharma, president J&K Wrestling Association presented welcome adress.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Ashutosh Sharma, Ajay Vaid, Narinder Mahajan, Kuldeep Sharma, Avtar Soni, Vijay Pahalwan, Raju Sharma , Pardeep Sharma, Pream Chodoure, Vijay Athari and Deeraj Sharma.
The gold medal winners in different weight categories included Rahul Kumar (53); Lal Hussain (57 kg); Sunny Sharma (65 kg); Qasim Din (70 kg); Rajesh Sharma (74 kg); Bhadur Khan (86 kg); Benia Min (97 kg) and Roshan Sharma (115 kg).
