KARGIL, Feb 7: The 13th CEC Ice Hockey Cup 2021, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, Kargil concluded at Ice Hockey Rink Biamathang, here today.
Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor (CEC), LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan was the chief guest on the occasion.
Executive Councilor (EC) for Health Muhammad Ali Chandan, Superintendent of Police Kargil Anayat Ali Choudhary, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil Tsering Motup, Additional SP Kargil Iftikhar Talib Choudhary, District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO), Kargil Muhammad Hussain Rehnuma, officers of district administration besides the officers and officials of Youth Services and Sports Department Kargil were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, CEC Feroz Ahmed Khan expressed happiness over the participation of 32 male and for the first time 5 female teams all across Kargil district in the CEC Ice Hockey Cup. He said that this is testimony to the growing popularity of this game among the youngsters in the district.
Feroz Khan said that the LAHDC, Kargil is fully committed towards the development of Ice Hockey in the district and concrete efforts have been made in the last 3 years to promote this game, and as a result the game has received humongous popularity amongst the youth.
CEC Khan said that considering the popularity of the game, suitable infrastructure now needs to be established.
The CEC said that as regards to the establishment of Ice Hockey rink at the District Headquarter Kargil, necessary steps will be taken for the allocation of land for construction of an additional ice hockey rink this year.
Feroz Khan asserting on the enhancement of coaching in Ice Hockey said that services of local coaches will be taken and wherever there is need to bring coaches from outside, steps on that front will be taken as well.
Khan congratulated the winner and runners up teams, participants and the Department of Youth Services and Sports for the successful conduct of the 13th CEC Ice Hockey Cup.
Earlier, in the final of the men’s category, Drass Red won over Chiktan Ice Hockey Club with the margin of 3-2 goals while in the women’s category, Chiktan Women Ice Hockey Club won over Wakha Mulbekh Club with the margin of 1-0 goal in the penalty shootout.
Meanwhile, trophies, mementoes, certificates of participation, silver and gold medals were distributed among the winner and runners up teams while certificates were also given to the National Youth Volunteers (NYVs), REKs and referees.
Muhammad Ibrahim Shoqi, Muhammad Hussain Akhone and Muhammad Ali Kaksari carried out the compeering and commentary of the event.
