UDHAMPUR, May 15: On the second day of the ongoing Zonal Level Inter-School Competitions organized by the Department of Youth Services & Sports, Zone Chenani conducted events in Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Chess, Badminton and Cricket for U-14 and U-17 girls under the patronage of Director Youth Services & Sports, Rajinder Singh Tara, guidance of DYSSO Udhampur, Romesh Chander Mishra and the overall supervision of ZPEO Chenani, Jyoti Rani.
Principal of Govt. HSS Chenani, Anchal Singh, interacted with participants, commended the organizing team and encouraged students to embrace sports for physical and mental well-being while avoiding social evils like drugs. With the dedication of field staff (PEM, PET, REKs), the event saw participation from 601 girls across 27 institutions. In today’s results, GHS Chenani emerged victorious in both Kabaddi U-17 (defeated Govt. HS Bupp Sarar by 13 points) and Kabaddi U-14 (defeated Govt. MS Sangote by 10 points). In Kho-Kho, Govt. HSS Sewna defeated Govt. Girls HS Chenani in both U-17 (by 17 points) and U-14 (by 7 points). In Chess, Bharti Devi (Govt. HSS Sewna) won the U-14 title against Diksha Sharma (Govt. MS Koyee), while Divya Anthal (Govt. HSS Sewna) triumphed in U-17 over Soni Bhagat (Govt. HS Marothi). In Badminton, GHS Chenani won both U-17 (vs MS Kulakh) and U-14 (vs MS Lower Manta). A U-17 girl’s cricket team was also selected for the district level. All matches were officiated by departmental experts under the overall incharge Anil Verma, PEM.
