Zahara of Ladakh wins Gold at 69th NSG U-19 Girls Taekwondo C’ship

JAMMU, Nov 16: Zahara Batool of Ladakh showcased exceptional skill and composure to clinch the Gold medal in the U-19 Girls -55 KG category at ongoing 69th National School Games U-19 Girls Taekwondo Championship, held at the Indoor Sports Complex, Bhagwati Nagar. Jayanti Muvel of Madhya Pradesh secured Silver, while the Bronze medals went to Avanthika V of Kerala and Nikita Dilip Pawar of Maharashtra.
The championship is organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, J&K, under the aegis of the School Games Federation of India, led by Director General Youth Services and Sports J&K, Anuradha Gupta. Joint Director Youth Services and Sports Jammu, Vinakshi Koul, is the Organising Secretary of the event.
The competitions were held in three weight categories: -55 KG, -42 KG, and -40 KG. In the U-19 Girls -42 KG category, Jananir of Kerala claimed Gold, Kowsalya Sithuraj of Tamil Nadu took Silver, while Bronze went to Sneha Sahu of Delhi and Kakul of Haryana.
Jammu & Kashmir athletes faced stiff competition, with Reet Dutta narrowly losing to Avanthika V in -55 KG and Irtiqa Mehraj falling to Kakul in -42 KG. Around 450 athletes from 36 States, Union Territories, and organizations are participating in the championship, highlighting the country’s emerging taekwondo talent.
