Yudhvir Sethi for wide publicity, support to artists, fading arts

JAMMU, June 25: Stressing on the need to promote and preserve local cultural art forms, Senior BJP leader Yudhvir Sethi today said the State is known for its traditional art forms and paintings and need of the hour is to give wide publicity and support to the artists and the fading arts.
He said Basohli paintings are world renowned for fusing miniature art and Hindu mythology and these paintings occupy a distinctive place among Indian Art forms.
Yudhvir Sethi said this at the culmination function of 10 day long training camp organised by the Indian Art Centre at Oriental Academy Higher Secondary School, here.
State President BJP Mahila Morcha Poornima Sharma was guest of honour and District Vice-President BJP Mahila Morcha Rekha Mahajan was special guest on the occasion.
Among others present were State General Secretary BJP Youth Ajay Pargal, Manager, Oriental Academy Vivek Chouhan,  Ahsraf, Chief Organiser Poonam Bhalgotra, Organiser, Artist Mohinder Kumar Wadhera, Ritu Wadhera, Anju Bala, Ajay Kumar, Neetu Kumar, Shuvam Raj Chatteri and Savita Jena.
Sethi said efforts at the level of the Government are underway to promote tourist potential of Basholi and its adjoining areas. The area has enormous potential for heritage tourism, adventure tourism, water sports and other allied activities, he added.
Ajay Pargal said Indian Art Centre should organize more such camps at different locations so that the art form gets a wider publicity and more and more children pick up the style.
On the occasion, certificates were also distributed among the children.
