JAMMU, May 26: The Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS), Jammu & Kashmir, here today held a wide range of inter-school competitions across various zones including Inderwal, Kishtwar, Marwah, Ramban, Budgam, Bandipora and Poonch.
Zone Inderwal hosted Kabaddi, Volleyball, Kho-Kho, Carrom and Chess for U-14 and U-17 boys. Kishtwar conducted a U-17 boys football competition. Marwah organized Chess, Carrom, and Tug of War events, while Ramban featured Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, and Cricket for U-17 girls with 132 participants.
In Budgam, Beerwah held U-14 Badminton for boys and girls; B.K. Pora organized U-17 boys Volleyball; Hardpanzoo hosted U-17 and U-19 girls Kabaddi with a Nasha Mukt Bharat pledge; and Budgam zone conducted boys Volleyball tournaments. Bandipora’s Zone Sumbal arranged a U-14 boys Kabaddi competition with 140 participants at Indoor Sports Stadium Shadipora.
Meanwhile, the Department of Youth Services and Sports commenced inter-zonal district-level competitions in Badminton, Table Tennis (U-14 & U-17 boys), Yoga (U-14 & U-17 boys) and U-14 girls’ Gymnastics at M.A. Stadium Jammu. Around 350 students participated, showcasing strong talent across disciplines.
The winners of the day Artistic Gymnastics U-14 Girls: Somya (Gold), Manya (Silver), Shivanshi (Bronze). Rhythmic Gymnastics U-14 Girls: Kalayani (Gold), Jasmeh (Silver), Shagun (Bronze). Table Tennis U-14 & U-17 Boys: Zone Jammu beat Zone Gandhi Nagar by 3-0 and 3-1 respectively. Yoga U-14 Boys: Diyan Thakur (1st). Badminton U-14 Boys: Gandhi Nagar beat Satwari by 2-1.
