1st Gold Badminton C’ship concludes

JAMMU, Apr 4: First Gold Badminton Championship, organised by GS Sports Club under supervision of Atul Sudan (President GS Sports Club) concluded at Indoor Stadium Akhnoor, here today.
In under-19 category, Keshav Manhas lifted the title trophy, while, Abhishek Jha stood runner-up, whereas the men’s single title was won by Chetan Sharma and Ashish Choudhary remained runner-up and in men’s double, Sahil and Ashish won the title trophy while Ashok and Nikhil stood runner-up besides in veterans double category, Dharampal Gupta and Ashok Kumar emerged winners while Rajpal Sharma and Raj Kumar clinched 2nd place.
Former Minister and BJP leader, Sham Lal Sharma was the chief guest of the event, whereas Surinder Sharma, President MC AKhnoor was the guest of honour and Balbir Singh Jamwal, secretary J&K Badminton Association was the special invitee along with Zorawar Singh Jamwal, chairman Team Jammu.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest appreciated the role of GS Sports Club for organizing such sports event in Akhnoor which will be greatly beneficial for the youths of the area to keep them aware and away from the drug abuse. Sham Lal Sharma urged youth to take a lead in decisive battle against drug menace. He further announced that soon we have a full fledged cricket stadium in Jourian which is sanctioned by Advisor to Lieutenant Governor Farooq Khan.
Balbir Singh Jamwal said, “Organizing such events are signs of youth towards a positive direction which is good for society and country in whole.”
In his address, the President MC Akhnoor appealed to youth to involve more and more youth in such events and aware youth to stay away from drugs.
The chairman of Team Jammu requested the prominent and civil society of Akhnoor to play a vigilant role in society to defeat the crucial battle against drugs. He said Team Jammu is always standing with youth to lead society in fight against drugs.
President of the Club, Atul Sudan thanked all the dignitaries and players to become a part of the event which was sponsored by Sapolia Dental Clinic, Spartan Taxation and Consultancy services, education partner Edu Hub Institute and JK Education Consultancy.
