RAJOURI, Apr 1: Police Station Kandi, District Rajouri, organized a Mega Wrestling Competition titled ‘Dangal Khara’ under the Civic Action Programme at the Irrigation Ground, Kotranka. The event aimed to promote sportsmanship, channel youth energy into constructive activities, and strengthen police-public relations.
The programme was inaugurated by Senior Superintendent of Police Rajouri, Gaurav Sikarwar, along with community members. Superintendent of Police Operations Budhal, Wajahat Hussain; Tehsildar Kotranka, Sahil Ali Shah; DySP Kandi, Neeraj Badyal and SHO Kotranka, Rajveer Singh, were also present.
Around 50 wrestlers from across the Jammu Province participated, along with nearly 100 children from District Rajouri. A total of 100 bouts were held across categories including under-12, under-14 and senior divisions. Wrestlers showcased remarkable strength, skill, and sportsmanship, with winners and runners-up awarded trophies, medals, cash prizes and travel allowances. Children were felicitated with gold and silver medals, suits, and glasses.
SSP Gaurav Sikarwar highlighted the role of sports in promoting fitness, discipline, and moral values among youth, emphasizing that events like “Dangal Khara” preserve cultural heritage and foster a peaceful, drug-free society.
The local community appreciated Police Station Kandi’s initiative, praising it for engaging youth in meaningful activities and strengthening community bonds. The event concluded peacefully with a vote of thanks to all participants, organizers, and the public.
