UDHAMPUR, June 22: Wrestler Abdul Gani of Mallerkotla, Punjab clinched 17th Annual Malhar Kesari Dangal title by defeating Wrestler Jagroop of Amritsar at village Malhar, here.
The dangal was organized by Malhar Dangal Committee in collaboration with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association.
A total of 65 bouts were played and around 125 wrestlers from within and outside the State including Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and UP participated.
Minister for Finance and Information Technology Pawan Gupta was the chief guest on the occasion who distributed cash awards among the winners and runner-up wrestlers in presence of President J&K Indian Style Association Shiv Kumar Sharma, Devinder Kumar, President District Udhampur Indian Style Wrestling Association Varinder Badyal, senior BJP leader Raj Kumar Buccha, Sarpanch Rehmat Ali, Sarpanch Balwan Singh, Ex-Sarpanch Pawan Kumar Sharma, Naresh Kumar and Mohammad Asraf.
The second bout was fought between Bhupinder of Ajnala and Amit of Guru Hanuman Akhara Delhi, which ended in draw. The third bout was played between Lallu of Bajrangi Akhara Jammu and Lalli of Garh Shanker, Punjab, which also ended in draw. The fourth bout was played between Ajay Sharma of Landen Power House Udhampur and Gunga of Ludhiana. This bout also ended in draw.
In the end, Devinder Kumar presented vote of thanks.
OTHERS RESULTS: Bittu of Delhi beat Palla of HP, Jatinder of Ludhiana defeated Subba of Ajnala, Niaz Ali of Domana Akhara Jammu crushed Rinku of Delhi, Yeshbir Fouji of Phagwara smashed Rajan of Varanasi (UP), Javed of Meerut beat Rajesh of J&K Police, Liakat Ali of Panthal crushed Raju of Delhi, Gopal Sharma of Jindarh outplayed Kapil Dev of HP, Salman of Chopra Shop Udhampur outclassed Sonu of Kathua, Subash of Chopra Shop beat Baboo of Jindrah and Sonu of Meerut routed Mustaq of Domana Akhara.
