Weightlifters shine at 10th Jammu District Powerlifting, Deadlift C’ship

JAMMU, Dec 7: The 10th Jammu District Men and Women Powerlifting and Deadlift Championship (Unequipped) 2025 concluded with outstanding performances at Cuts & Curves Fitness Club, Upper Roop Nagar, here today.
The event, organised by the Powerlifting Association of J&K under the banner of the Indian Powerlifting Federation (IPF), witnessed athletes from various age and weight categories delivering remarkable displays of strength and skill.
In the Men’s Sub-Junior category, Aneesh Verma (Gold), Vishushant (Gold), Aryan Pandoh (Gold) and Keshav Sharma (Silver) emerged as top performers, securing medals across events.
The junior category witnessed competitive lifting with Brijesh Rajput (Gold) and Manav Singh (Gold) clinching top honours, while Pranav Sharma and Keshav Khajuria secured silver medals. Saksham and Nitish Verma also finished on the podium with gold and silver, respectively.
Som Raj claimed the gold medal in the senior category, showcasing commendable strength, while Mehul Dubey and Gurudayal Singh dominated the Masters category, both lifting their way to gold. Varundeep Sharma also secured a gold medal in the 105 kg weight category.
In the Women’s section, Nandini secured gold in the junior category, while Apporva Amla and Neha Salaria impressed with strong performances to bag gold in the senior category.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Commonwealth medalist Rakesh Kumar, who also served as the chief guest and General Secretary of the Powerlifting Association of J&K.
