LAKHANPUR, Apr 17: The Walk of Hope led by internationally acclaimed apostle of peace, social reformer and educationist, Mumtaz Ali was given a rousing reception on entering J&K at Lakhanpur in the wee hours today.
Mumtaz Ali, popularly known as Sri. M was received at Lakhanpur by Dr. Bharat Bhushan, Chief Executive Officer, Lakhanpur Sarthal Development Authority and Sat Paul Mansotra District Coordinator of Padyatra by presenting flower bouquets and garlanding Mr. M and his prominent walkers on the occasion.
Sri. M. accompanied by about 80 walkers comprising of several serving and retired bureaucrats and foreign nationals and other prominent personalities arrived at Lakahnpur in the morning.
Sri M. while speaking on the occasion apprised that he embarked upon Padyatra-Walk of Hope on 12th January 2015 from Vivekananda Rock Memorial, Kanyakumari on the Birth anniversey of Swami Vivekananda and the Walk will cultiminate on 30th April 2016 at Srinagar, Kashmir after passing through 11 States over a period of 15-18 months bringing together citizens from all walks of life for peace, harmony and mutual understanding. He added that his mission is non political aimed at promotion of amity.
While welcoming Sri M. and other participants at Lakahnpur, Dr. Bhushan appreciated the initiative of Sri. M and his team for the noble cause.
He added that President of India, Pranab Mukhrjee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and social thinker and veteran Parliamentarian Dr. Karan Singh have already commended the role of Sri M. in promotion of peace and communal harmony and recently on 19th February, Pranab Mukherjee, President of India held a reception for him and Walk of Hope participants and honoured them personally.
Later on arrival at Kathua, the Walk of Hope participants were accorded a civic reception at The Kathua Heritage-The Way Side Amenity of LSDA.
Here a number of prominent citizens were present. The District Coordinator Sat Paul Mansotra welcomed all the participants of Walk of Hope led by Sri M.
Sri. M in his address thanked the citizens and the media fraternity and hoped that his mission will achieve its objectives.
Sri M. then honoured Dr. Bharat Bhushan and SP Mansotra by presenting them his autographed Book.
Er. Naresh, Director of Learnig Temple, Kathua conducted the proceedings of the programme.
The Walk of Hope then proceeded for its onward journey towards Jammu.
