JAMMU, Mar 10: Chairman of the JKPCC Kissan Department and senior Congress leader Bharat Priye inaugurated the Jai Baba Dharam Chand Ji Open Volleyball Tournament at Chibban De Kothey, Pargwal, highlighting the importance of sports in empowering youth and promoting social harmony in rural areas.
The tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation from local youth and sports lovers. It was sponsored by Sachin Manhas, Anku and Jannu and organised by local volunteers including Subash Singh, Yash Singh, Nitin Singh, Babblu Singh, Gulshan Singh, Ramesh Singh, Raman Singh, Abhi Singh, Avinash Singh, Bunty Chib, Jagdish Singh, Golu Singh, Vijay Singh, Rahul Singh and Krish Singh.
Addressing the gathering, Bharat Priye said sports play a vital role in building a healthy and progressive society and provide youth with a platform to showcase their talent while promoting discipline and unity.
In the final match, Pallanwala defeated Meira Mandrian in an exciting contest. The tournament concluded with the distribution of awards, where the winning team Pallanwala received trophies, cash prizes of Rs 15,000 and certificates, while the runner-up team Meira Mandrian was awarded trophies, Rs 7,000 and certificates. Consolation prizes were also presented to other participating players in recognition of their efforts and sportsmanship.
