JU’s Inter-Departmental Tournament

JAMMU, May 6: The University of Jammu kicked off its Inter-Departmental Tournament for the session 2025–26 with great enthusiasm at the University Volleyball Court and Cricket Ground, featuring Cricket and Volleyball competitions for the Men’s category.
The tournament is being organized under the aegis of the Chairman, Campus Sports Committee, University of Jammu under the supervision of Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba, Chairman, Campus Sports Committee and the coordination of Raj Kumar Bakshi, Incharge PTI, Campus Sports Committee.
Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba emphasized the importance of sports and physical activity in promoting mental well-being, reducing stress and building a cohesive and dynamic academic environment. He added that these tournaments are essential for the all-round development of students.
The opening day witnessed high-energy matches with the English Department defeating the Journalism Department by 33 runs and SHTM Department winning by a massive 87 runs over SIIEDC Department in Cricket. In Volleyball, the Law Department beat the Sociology Department by 2-0 with set scores of 25-18 and 25-17, while the Commerce Department overpowered the Geology Department by 2-0 with set scores of 25-12 and 25-19. The matches were officiated by Raj Kumar Bakshi, Ravish Vaid, Vikas Karlopia, Anil Singh, Zahid Rehman, Prince Sharma and Sahil Sharma, ensuring fair play and smooth conduct throughout.
