ANANTNAG, Aug 2: A special league cricket match for visually impaired cricketers was held at Government Model Higher Secondary School (GMHSS) Boys Anantnag, Brakpora. The event featured 20 players from Anantnag, Kulgam, Pulwama, Shopian, Budgam, Baramulla and Srinagar.
Organized through the efforts of Javed Ahmad Tak, Chairman of Humanity Welfare Organization Helpline and supported by Principal Manzoor Ahmad, the match was fully sponsored by GMHSS Anantnag. Two teams-SB Titans led by Ghulam Mohideen Lone (Shopian) and Rising Stars led by Yasir Ahmad Khan-competed in the match. Batting first, SB Titans posted 67 runs with top scores from Lone (32), Mushtaq Shah (12), and Amir Bashir (10). Rising Stars managed only 52 runs despite a 20-run partnership between Lateef Bhati and Ghulam Mohideen Sheikh, handing SB Titans a 15-run win.
The event was inaugurated by Principal Manzoor Ahmad and Padma Shri awardee Javed Ahmad Tak. During the valedictory session, ACR Anantnag Tariq Ahmad Malik distributed medals, certificates and cricket jerseys. Players Musaib Yousuf (Sopore) and Junaid Bhati (Shopian) were felicitated with tablets. Teachers Anjum and Rifat Jan supported player mobility. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Tariq Bashir and Javed Ahmad Tak.
