Various Institutions celebrate International Youth Day

JAMMU, Aug 13: Various educational institutions and organizations across Jammu and Kashmir commemorated International Youth Day with engaging programs aimed at empowering youth and raising awareness on crucial social issues.
Government College for Women (GCW) Udhampur organized a guest lecture titled “Women Entrepreneurship to Promote Swadeshi Movement,” conducted by the Department of Computer Applications in collaboration with the Innovation Incubation Cell and the Viksit Bharat Committee. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Nalini Pathania and speaker Anita Sharma, President of J&K State Women Swadeshi Jagran Manch, emphasized the importance of promoting indigenous products and supporting local industries. The event inspired students to embrace Swadeshi ideals for economic self-reliance and national unity.
In another initiative, the J&K AIDS Control Society and Health Department launched a two-month awareness campaign on HIV/AIDS. As part of this, the Red Ribbon Club of Government Degree College (GDC) Sidhra held an awareness program where Dr. Mussarat Chowdhary introduced the topic, followed by an insightful lecture by Prof. Jasdeep Singh on HIV prevention and Anti-Retroviral Therapy. Principal Dr. Sunil Bhat encouraged students to remain informed and vigilant.
Additionally, the Red Ribbon Club of GDC Majalta conducted a Poster Making Competition themed “Role of Youth in Raising Awareness About HIV/AIDS.” Under the guidance of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Shalini Sharma and convener Dr. Dalip Kumar, ten students participated, with Shivani Devi winning first prize. The event highlighted youth creativity and responsibility in promoting health awareness. These initiatives collectively showcased the vibrant spirit of J&K youth in fostering social awareness and empowerment.
