PULWAMA, Oct 21: The Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) J&K inaugurated the Inter-District Union Territory (UT) Level Softball Tournament at the Sports Stadium, here today. The tournament features participation from 12 district teams, including four from the Jammu division, highlighting the growing interest in the sport within the region.
Choudhary Mohammad Qasim, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Pulwama, praised the enthusiasm and dedication of the young participants. He emphasized the tournament’s importance in fostering unity, sportsmanship, and excellence among athletes across the UT. Qasim also expressed gratitude to the YSS Pulwama team for their meticulous organization and encouraged players to exemplify teamwork and fair play throughout the competition.
The tournament, which runs until October 28, is being conducted under the guidance of the Director General of Youth Services and Sports J&K. Teams will compete across various age categories, ensuring a highly competitive atmosphere. This event reflects the ongoing efforts of the YSS to promote softball as a rising sport in Jammu and Kashmir, alongside traditional favorites like football and cricket.
