JAMMU, Dec 30: A 27-member contingent from the J&K Union Territory, comprising both men’s and women’s teams, has left for the 75th Senior National Basketball Championships, scheduled to be held in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, from January 4 to 11, 2026.
The contingent will be led by Ashok Singh Jamwal, Senior Vice President of the J&K Basketball Association (JKBA). Sushma Jamwal, Chief Coach of the J&K Sports Council (JKSC), will accompany the teams as Head Coach. Prior to departure, the teams underwent a 15-day training camp sanctioned by the J&K Sports Council.
The UT teams include players from Jammu, Srinagar, Udhampur, Reasi, Kathua, as well as J&K Police and SAI. In the men’s category, J&K has been placed in Pool C alongside Kerala, West Bengal and Jharkhand, while the women’s team has been placed in Pool D along with Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh and Telangana.
