Unstoppable Bengal drubs J&K by 39 runs

JAMMU, Nov 25: Unconquered Bengal prevailed over unpredictable Jammu and Kashmir in a close contest by 39 runs in the ongoing Mens U-25 State A Trophy at NFC Cricket Stadium, Hyderabad today.
Earlier, Bengal won the toss and decided to bat first.
Batting first, Bengal rode on an opening partnership of 204 runs between Sudip Kumar Gharami and Ankur Pal to score a huge total of 307 runs in the stipulated 50 overs, losing 6 wickets in the process. Gharami top scored with 111 runs off 130 balls, while Pal scored 110 runs off 106 balls. Skipper Kazi Junaid Saifi contributed 52 runs off 51 balls.
For J&K, Rasikh Salaam and Saksham Sharma bagged 2 wickets each, while Sahil Lotra claimed one wicket.
In reply, J&K managed to score 268 runs in 48.3 overs, thus lost the match by a margin of 39 runs. Skipper Henan Nazir top scored with 79 runs off 87 balls, while Lone Nasir Muzaffar contributed 69 runs off 89 balls. Kanhaiya Wadhawan made brisk 27 runs off 16 balls, while Musaif Ajaz also contributed 19 runs to the total.
For Bengal, Suraj Sindhu Jaiswal and Akaash Ghatak captured 3 wickets each, while Sandipan Das, Vaibhav Yadav and Prayas Ray Barman claimed 1 wicket each.
With today’s defeat, J&K has 8 points out of four matches, having won two and lost equal number of matches. Bengal tops the table with 16 points, winning all four matches played so far.
The Jammu and Kashmir team is being accompanied by Sarabjeet Singh, Shafqat Malik, Hilal Ahmed, Veemarsh Kaw, Huwaid Hamid, Haseeb Rehman, Guru Partap Singh and Sahil Magotra as officials.
