JAMMU, Jan 7: The Rajinder Saini and Sandeep Singh Memorial Under-16 (T-30) Cricket Tournament was inaugurated at Parade Ground, here today.
The Tournament was jointly inaugurated by senior Ranji Trophy cricketer Randhir Singh Jamwal and former skipper of the J&K Ranji Trophy team, Sanjay Sharma.
The event is being organized by Laxmi Cricket Club in association with the Parade Sports Association, with support from the Jammu Municipal Corporation. The initiative aims to provide a competitive platform to young and aspiring cricketers of Jammu, enabling them to showcase their talent and build a strong foundation for the future.
The opening match of the tournament was played between MA Stadium Cricket Club and Youth Cricket Club. After winning the toss, the MA Stadium team opted to field first. Batting first, Youth Cricket Club put up an impressive total of 230 runs for the loss of five wickets, displaying strong batting performances.
In response, MA Stadium Cricket Club struggled against disciplined bowling and was bowled out for 103 runs, falling short of the target by a significant margin. Youth Cricket Club registered a comprehensive victory by 127 runs.
Hamza Choudhary was adjudged the Player of the Match for his outstanding bowling performance, claiming three crucial wickets while conceding just 10 runs.
The Tournament will continue tomorrow with a match scheduled between V-9 Cricket Club and Janta Sports Cricket Club.
